Privacy policy
Short version: almost nothing you type into a Tools Guru calculator ever leaves your device, we never ask you to create an account, and we do not sell personal data. The detail is below.
1. The principle
Tools Guru is built local-first. When you enter a loan amount, drop in a photograph or open a PDF, the work is done by your own browser using standard web APIs. There is no upload step to skip because there is no upload. This is not a promise about how we handle your data on a server; it is an architectural fact that you can verify in your browser's network inspector.
2. Tools that do contact a server
Ten of the 106 tools cannot work locally because they depend on live third-party data. Each carries a visible "online" badge on its card. They are: the currency converter, weather, calorie and nutrition finder, recipe finder, AI image generator, HD background remover, speech to text, quiz generator, IP address lookup and the internet speed test.
For those tools, the minimum necessary input — a city name, a food name, a prompt, an image, an audio clip — is sent to the relevant provider to fulfil your request. We do not attach an identifier, we do not log the content of these requests, and we do not retain the input after the response is returned.
3. What is stored on your device
Some tools save your work locally so it survives a page refresh: the notepad, the to-do list, the budget planner, your theme preference and a count of which tools you open most, which is what drives the "Trending now" row. All of this lives in your browser's localStorage on your own machine. It is never transmitted to us. Clearing your browser's site data deletes it permanently and irreversibly.
4. Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic — how many people visit, which tools are popular, which countries readers come from. IP anonymisation is enabled. The analytics script is deliberately not loaded until you interact with the page or three seconds have passed, whichever comes first.
We serve display advertising through a third-party network. That network may set its own cookies and use them for frequency capping and interest-based advertising, in line with its own privacy policy over which we have no control. We do not share any information you type into a tool with any advertiser, because we do not have it.
You can block all of this at source with any mainstream content blocker, or by using your browser's tracking protection. Every tool on the site continues to work normally with advertising and analytics blocked; we test that deliberately.
5. Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider records standard request logs: IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referrer and user agent. These are used for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing errors, and are retained for 30 days before automatic deletion.
6. Children
Tools Guru is a general-audience utility site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to know what is collected and to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information under any definition of that term.
Because we hold no account and no profile for you, most requests resolve to "we do not have anything about you". To exercise a right anyway, email sophiaanjum05@gmail.com with "Privacy request" in the subject. We respond within 30 days.
8. Security
The site is served exclusively over HTTPS with HTTP Strict Transport Security, a Content Security Policy, X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff, X-Frame-Options and a strict referrer policy. We do not operate password fields and we store no credentials.
