About the Morse Code Translator
Morse encodes letters as dots and dashes with strict timing — a dash lasts three dot-lengths, gaps between letters three, and between words seven. Reading it on screen loses that rhythm, which is the part that actually matters if you are learning it, so audio playback is included. Standard international Morse is used, covering letters, digits and common punctuation.
Frequently asked questions
What is SOS in Morse code?
Three dots, three dashes, three dots — ··· --- ··· — sent as one continuous sequence.
Can I hear the Morse code?
Yes, playback uses standard timing so you can learn the rhythm rather than just reading symbols.
Which characters are supported?
The full international Morse set: A–Z, 0–9 and common punctuation.
What is SOS in Morse code?
Three dots, three dashes, three dots — ··· ——— ··· — sent as one continuous signal with no letter gaps. It was chosen because the rhythm is unmistakable, not because the letters stand for anything, and it remains the internationally recognised distress call.
Does it work as both an encoder and a decoder?
Yes, in both directions. Type plain text to get Morse, or paste dots and dashes to get the text back. The encoder also plays the result as audio at an adjustable speed so you can practise by ear.
