About the SIP Calculator
A systematic investment plan compounds each monthly contribution for however long it stays invested, so early instalments do far more work than later ones — which is why starting a few years sooner usually beats investing a larger amount later. The calculator uses an assumed constant annual return; real markets do not behave that way, so treat the output as a planning scenario rather than a forecast, and try a pessimistic rate as well as an optimistic one.
Frequently asked questions
How is SIP maturity value calculated?
Each monthly instalment is compounded for the months remaining until maturity, then all of them are summed — the future value of an annuity.
What return rate should I assume?
Use a conservative long-term figure and test a range. No calculator can predict market returns.
Does this account for inflation or tax?
No. The result is a nominal figure — subtract expected inflation and any capital gains tax to judge real purchasing power.
